'Dalits worst sufferers under BSP'

LUCKNOW: UPCC president Rita Bahuguna has taken strong exception to chief minister Mayawati's reported statement accusing Congress party as `anti-Dalit' in view of the proposed Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Posts and Services Reservation Bill-2008 to be tabled in Parliament on Thursday.

It may be mentioned that Mayawati while strongly opposing the bill has appealed to the Centre to withdraw it as it proposes to remove reservation in teaching posts for SC/STs in IITs, IIMs, central institutions etc.

Joshi said that before accusing the Congress, Mayawati should explain to the Dalit community what she has done for their welfare. "Today, she (Mayawati) is shedding crocodile tears over the plight of Dalits. The fact is that during the BSP rule the Dalits are the worst sufferers of atrocities and injustice.

They are committing suicides because of hunger. Thousands of people belonging to weaker sections have migrated from Bundelkhand as the BSP government failed to provide them jobs.

Rape of Dalit women under the regime of a Dalit chief minister have become order of the day," alleged Joshi.
