Tribal woman killed, cops clueless

MALDA, Jan. 28 : Police are still clueless about the murder of a tribal woman, Arati Mardi (35), who was found dead at her residence in Dakshin Vatra village in Old Malda block on Monday.

Although police are still trying to find the motive behind the murder, the primary investigation ruled out the possibility of "witch hunt".

According to police, the victim was a construction worker and used to work for a mason whom police are trying to find.

According to police, Arati had consumed alcohol before she was killed. On Sunday night, she had consumed alcohol and had to carried home by another tribal woman.

The other woman was also drunk. Neighbours had found Arati's body on the verandas with multiple injury marks. Police interrogated the other tribal woman who was the last one to see Arati on Sunday night. Police also Arati was killed by someone with whom she was well acquainted with.
