Social Security and insurance for Tribals

                 The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has been releasing grants to State/Union Territory Governments to provide insurance cover to each family head of identified 75 Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs) through “Janashree Bima Yojana” of Life Insurance Corporation of India.  The benefits of Janashree Bima Yojana are:-
(I)         Payment of Rs.50,000/- to nearest kith and kin of life insured in case of accidental death or permanent disability due to accident;
(II)         Payment of Rs.20,000/- to the nearest kith and kin in case of natural death;
(III)        Payment of Rs.25,000/- in case of partial disability; and
(IV)       Educational grant of Rs.300/- per quarter for 2 children studying in class IX to XII.
            This was stated by the Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Dr. Rameshwar Oraon in a reply to a question by Shri  Avinash Rai Khanna in Lok Sabha today. Details of State-wise funds released for Janashree Bima Yojana are given below:
