5 tribal talukas in district to have GIDC centres soon

Vadodara: Aiming to boost employment in the tribal region, Vadodara District Collector Vijay Nehra has declared that the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) centres would be set up in five tribal talukas of Vadodara district in the coming year.

Besides, a land in Pavi Jetpur taluka will be allotted to the Anand Agriculture University (AAU), whereby a new agricultural college will be started in a year's time.

The GIDC authorities appraised Vadodara district about their plans to start GIDC centres in five talukas. These are Pavi Jetpur, Kwant, Naswadi, Chhota Udepur and Sankheda.

In a recent coordination meeting, Nehra said: “This is a preliminary phase. However, one expects that tenders will be floated by GIDC by next year.” District authorities added: “The meltdown might veer to a low beat by next year and GIDC centres might start at an upbeat.”

Nehra said: “A land has been earmarked by the revenue department for the GIDC centres. The district authorities are expected to float tenders in the coming year.”
